Keeping up with technology as we teach our children is important, especially if our children plan to have careers in the technology field. Almost any career requires some familiarity with basic tech tools and online navigation. Since our kids are digital natives, this might be easier for them than for us as homeschool parents! My oldest daughter intends to have a career as a digital entrepreneur, so I’m always looking for ways to use technology tools in our homeschool.
Disclosure: I received access to mysimpleshow Fun subscription package for review purposes. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions expressed are my own. I was compensated for my time to write this post.
I was really excited when the opportunity arose to try out mysimpleshow. Video is where it’s at right now with trying to convey any message, especially in the realm of blogging and social media. Since my daughter wants to get into that with her business plans, mysimpleshow is a good tool for her to use.
What is mysimpleshow?
mysimpleshow is an online tool to create video presentations, also known as explainer videos. If you’re selling a product or service, mysimpleshow is a great way to make an intro for your website. You can also use it for endless homeschool projects such as video book reports, historical biographies, unit study slideshows, explaining mathematical formulas, and more. You can check out several examples here.
Make a Video Presentation with mysimpleshow
My daughter had several creative ideas right away for using mysimpleshow. The first thing she did was create a video book report of one of her favorite books, Black Beauty. She easily followed the step-by-step prompts and within about 15-20 minutes she had created her first video.
mysimpleshow makes it easy to write text, choose images, select a narrator’s voice (with upgraded plans you can record your own!), add music, and put it all together into a short video form. You can also choose to include captions if you prefer, as we did in the video below.
We created this video to go along with our unit study on Amelia Earhart. Even though the narration is a little robotic, it’s still a neat experience to make the video and helped my daughters remember key facts about Amelia Earhart. We plan to record our own narration for future videos, but you can’t beat this simple and quick way to make video presentations.
mysimpleshow has several packages available: Free, Fun, Business, and Pro. Each has its own subscription pricing and features in either monthly or yearly options. You can learn more about each on the website. We have a year of access to the Fun package and we plan to get a lot of use out of it. At only $4.99 a month, it’s a very affordable tech tool to include in your budget.
There are so many great ways to include mysimpleshow in your homeschool. Visual learners, creatives, and those who need multisensory lessons can especially benefit from incorporating these explainer videos into your studies. A boring book report can suddenly become a fun project with mysimpleshow. You can download your videos or even share them on YouTube, Vimeo, or Facebook.
