{a very special prayer request}

Please be in prayer for Dana Hanley, of Roscommon Acres (formerly Principled Discovery) and her family. They lost their little boy last weekend… in an accident that could have happened in any one of our homes. All of our hearts here are just absolutely breaking for them. Won’t you join us in lifting them up to our Heavenly Father, now, and in the difficult days to come? From Dana’s blog,

Goodbye, my sweet, sweet baby boy

I was absolutely dumbfounded on Sunday morning, when I saw the link to the above post on facebook… had to re-read Dana’s painfully short blog-post a few times, just to wrap my mind around the reality of what she was saying, what she was/is going through right now. The tears have been flowing, and prayers whispering now, ever since…

Dana has contributed so much to the homeschooling community over the years, offering encouragement to myself and countless others through her blogging over the last five-six years. As Heather said to someone who’d asked,

Dana is a very smart and amazing political blogger – a prairie muffin that left the city to live on a farm and one of the most amazing homeschoolers and moms ever. She and I were pregnant with little Mattias and Kohen at the same time. They are nearly exactly a month apart (Mattias being older)… Oh, my dear. I’m just totally thrown for a loop right now. I was coming to quickly check email before school and I feel like my heart has was sucked out of my body.

I think we’re all feeling similarly. I was also reminded by a friend,

Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.

1 Thessalonians 4.13-14

Renae Deckard, who has been in touch with Dana, shared yesterday on her own blog, beautifully summing up my own sentiments; regarding when words are not enough…

And now I just want to be there. To love on this family in a real tangible way. Not merely with the words, because I have none.There is nothing to say to comfort.

There is nothing to type that will make the loss less.

I imagine what the Hanleys are facing, and yet I cannot imagine the true horror of the reality. I squeeze my kids tighter. I think of all the times they could have been hurt. I think of Christmas without one of them and tears stream down my face.

There are no words, but there are groanings that the Holy Spirit understands. May He interpret their love in my friend’s broken heart.

And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. Then He who sat on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”

    Beautifully said, Beth. I can’t even begin to imagine what this family feels right now. Like Renae said, I am so thankful that we have the Holy Spirit who understands our groans. May He comfort Dana and her entire family as they deal with this tragedy.

    Beth, you did a wonderful post…beautifully put. I cannot even imagine what all everyone in this family and close friends are going through. How tragic and horrible. I’m giving thanks in this moment that we honor and have a God who is holding this precious boy right now and loving him. Praying for this sweet, sweet family.

    My heart truly goes out to Dana and her family. Having lost a baby daughter, I truly empathize with them in their grief, as I hold them up now, in prayer. May the Lord of love comfort them, surround them with His loving peace, and hold each and every one of them in the palm of His hand. May their little boy rest in peace.
    With Love and continued Prayers,

    Numbers 6:23-26:

    The Lord bless you, and keep you;
    The Lord make His face shine on you,
    And be gracious to you;
    The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
    And give you peace.”‘
