About Shannon Entin
Hi, I’m Shannon.
I am a writer, traveler, wife and homeschooling mother of two. I love to travel and road trips are my passion. My goal is to drive through all 50 states in America, sharing my adventures at 100 Routes Across America. I also blog at The Discipline Project where I challenge myself to put my “big rocks” first. While both these blogs are very new, I’ve actually been blogging under various persona (PHAT Mommy, Homeschool Hacks, Mom Improvement) since 2005.
I love photography, scrapbooking, skiing, playing board games, watching movies, and eating out. I’m obsessively organized and clean my house as a stress-relief mechanism.
Our kids have been homeschooled since birth. We decided to homeschool mainly for philosophical reasons. We want our kids to be free-thinkers. And we don’t want them to be socialized — where “socialized” means fitting into a mold determined by society. We follow an unschooling/Montessori philosophy that has served us well for the past 12 years.
This is one of my favorite quotes:
“I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. I possess tremendous power to make life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration, I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides…”
~ Goethe
I look forward to getting to know all the readers and writers of the Post and sharing experiences.
