Hi, my name is Lindsay! I am first and foremost a child of God! I became a Christian in high school thanks to the amazing work of Young Life. I am very involved in our college focused church in a small college city. I am Tim’s wife and Sammy’s mom. I write about bits and bytes of our life on Bytes of Memory.
We have been “officially” homeschooling for 1 year (we have started our 2nd year). However, we also did a lot of home preschool and lots of playing! My son started first grade at the very end of last month. My husband was homeschooled from 5th grade until he graduated. So I guess that makes our son a second generation homeschooler!
I love sports (Yay Skins!), knitting, reading (and books), making lists, and anything water related! I also love dark chocolate, Mountain Dew (yes, I know it’s terrible for me so I HIGHLY limit it), coffee, tea, and Mexican food (but not all together). I dislike mushrooms, uncooked tomatoes, folding clothes, and gardening. I am a total computer geek (hence my personal blog name).
Tim and I have been married for 8 years. We said our ‘I do’s’ and hopped on my dad’s boat and drove off on the lake my parents live on. Lest you think everything has been perfect ever since, when we got off the boat, we realized we were locked out of my parent’s house in June in a Tux and a wedding dress! We have a lot of fun and work on getting ourselves out of trouble. God has been faithful to us and walked us through some difficult times, including my getting a severely infected C-section (and a few other complications) after Sammy’s birth, having Tim’s pay reduced by 50% once due to the tough economy, and our current walk through infertility.
Tim is the geek of geeks. Yes, he knows I wrote this about him! He loves his job at an electric cooperative. He is the oldest of 7 children in his family, and, no, his mom didn’t wear jean jumpers. Tim runs sound at our church and occasionally fills in on bass for them. He loves to tinker with anything that has electricity (computers, sound equipment, car stereos… you get the idea). He is the love of my life!
Sammy is a six year old ball of energy! He is sensitive and caring. He is also spunky, loud, silly, and loves to make people laugh! Sammy loves Legos, animals, and video games. He doesn’t love coloring or math worksheets. He really likes listening to stories and learning how to read. Sammy loves big and cries big. Tim and I often say he is either 100% on or 100% off. But the off moments are not as frequent as the on moments (thankfully).
We own a small pound, also known as 3 dogs. Tipsy is 9, Yoshi and (Princess) Peach are brother and sister puppies that were born February. Sammy named the puppies. Tim and I named Tipsy for her all white tips (no she doesn’t drink). Yoshi was Sammy’s 6th birthday present and Peach stole our hearts and we brought her home too.
I am very excited to be writing here on The Homeschool Post and getting to know this wonderful community!
