Hello everyone! I cannot tell you how very thrilled and humbled I am to be joining this incredible team of my Christian, homeschooling mamas!
A Little About Me
I will be 30 years old in May. I grew up in the panhandle of Texas and now love and live in our beautiful capitol city of Austin. I seized the opportunity to move here and start life again in a time of great despair, and that’s just what I have done. I am still new to the blogging world, having begun Whit’s World back in the fall…the same time our homeschooling journey took flight. I have always found writing therapeutic, and it has become a wonderful outlet for me.
A Little About My Family
I am Momma to two vibrant and bright young boys (J is 8, and L turns 2 the first week of May). They are honestly miracles from God, and not a day goes by that I don’t thank him for my precious gifts. Upon moving to Austin, I met the man that had literally been in my dreams all along. He is unbelievably hard-working and sacrifices it all, so that I may stay home with our boys. God made us for each other, and I cannot express in words what he means to me. We have two dogs and two guinea pigs (who all happen to be males…I am completely surrounded by testosterone!). Needless to say, there is never a dull moment in our cozy little home.
A Little About Our Homeschool
Three years ago, the plan was to finish up student teaching and go to work in the public schools as a Math or Science teacher for grades 4-8…I never considered homeschooling an option. That is, until last year when God began placing the idea of homeschooling in front of me, literally, every time I turned around. About the same time, a doctor diagnosed my son with a form of autism called Asperger’s Syndrome. We continued to grow frustrated with how things were progressing through the remainder of his first grade year. I made the final decision to homeschool two weeks before summer break was over. I could no longer deny God’s will for our family…it has been the most beneficial and positive decision we have ever made. We are still in the process of discovering what works for us, but we focus on the Bible (which was a huge factor in our decision to homeschool as well), and do a lot of literature based learning. I am excited to see where this journey takes us…I know that we will be a homeschooled family for life now!
You can connect with me at my blog, Whit’s World (click my title below to go there), or on Facebook or Twitter.
I look forward to building connections here!
