Valentine’s Day The Homeschool Way {Linky!}

by Gidget on February 4, 2012

Valentine’s Day is the only holiday (or day for that matter) that my children miss going to regular school. Why, do you ask? Because of those silly little cards that all the schoolchildren exchange. Of course, they don’t know how hurtful those same little cards can be, but I digress.  With or without little cards, Valentines Day can be a wonderful opportunity to share yourself with others.

Why not do something special for those people who are consistently part of our lives? The librarians that we see every week (or 2 to 3 times a week) who set aside books that they think my kids might be interested in. Or the park rangers at our favorite fort who always take time out to ignite their interest in history.  So, this year we plan to bake cookies (and hopefully make cards)  for those who are so special to us to show them how much we appreciate them.

What about you? How do you plan on celebrating Valentine’s Day in your homeschool?

Link up with us to share some Valentines ideas! What are you making? What are you baking? Who are you seeing? What makes your heart tick on this love-ly holiday?

Gidget – LOVE THIS! For us, our first official meeting for the Girls Tween Book Club I started here in Germany will meet :) My daughter (and her brothers) and I are going to make several valentine themed cake pops and sugar cookies. We’ll have some veggies too, of course ;) I will link up once it is over!
