I joined the Moms of Master Books review team before Christmas and their first book to send me for the “job” (which is no job at all – it’s pure fun for our household) was The World of Animals. I don’t know about you, but I get frustrated with all the malarkey in Science and History books (the first 1/4 of my Usborne Encyclopedia of World History is pure fiction about missing links and how humans came from electrified pond scum… yes – a HISTORY book). If there were an animal in my ancestry, I’d want it to be this cute little red-eyed bush baby; not some stagnant can of primordial soup.
Finding good alternatives to DK and other really photographic and pretty encyclopedia-type books is always a delight. My first taste of Master Book’s quality and caliber was with their “Unlocking the Mysteries of Creation”. I’m thrilled to have another of their books for my homeschooled kids.
The World of Animals is a full-color, hard back animal encyclopedia – covering every kind of animal you can imagine… from protists to porpoises, and everything in-between!
It makes a good addition to any homeschool science and nature library, and a great book for you to take with you on trips for educational reading when you are stuck in the car for hours. The reading level is Junior High and up, but the little kids will enjoy the photos and artwork. My boys like crawling up in big brother or sister’s lap and having them point and name the animals.
I love how this book unashamedly mentions creation and the flood. I also love not having to worry about them adding in fake animals based off of the discovery of a fossil tooth, or some Darwinist artist’s version of an ape-turned-human.
You can find out more about the products that Master Books have for your homeschool by following them on twitter or facebook at: @masterbooks4u, Moms of Master Books on Facebook (hint: they have awesome twitter parties where they give free books away every month using the #teachthetruth hashtag). You can also stop over at Ashley’s blog for her really cool vlog review of the book.
From their website:
Master Books of New Leaf Publishing Group is the world’s largest publisher of creation-based resources including apologetics, home school resources, reference titles, and quality children’s literature.
Thanks Master Book – for giving us this awesome animal book for our homeschool book shelf. It will be a timeless reference for the years to come (my little boys will be starting homeschool in two or three years – so I’ll be homeschooling until I get dentures, it seems).

I love how you and Ashely ended up on the same page for your pictures
I won’t forget the male stickleback fish anytime soon!
Can’t wait to get my copy because we won’t use Usborne either – can’t have that trash come into the house…
Wow! Thank you! I have just come home from the library – needless to say I have to check VERY carefully with every science or history book; and therefore leave without checking one out, or provide disclaimers to my daughter! I’m an older parent, a second year homeschooler, a long-time Christian (in a mainline denomination), but new to the Creation viewpoint. Grateful to know of this publishing group!
Thanks for sharing my vlog review… and like, Gidget said, so cool that you highlighted some of the same pages!
This looks like an interesting book. Thanks for your thoughts and the review. :O)
