Hey, everyone! I’m Jennifer.
I am thrilled to be joining the team of The Post!
I have been a long time fan of these gals, and I am honored to be asked to join them. I am married to my best friend and mom to two of life’s greatest blessings, ages 10 and 8. We strive to raise our children for Heaven, not Harvard – believing everything else will fall into place.
Each day is an adventure in our world, as no two days are alike – (hence the name of my blog – Daze of Adventure) Hubby is a road warrior some weeks, we are all heavily involved in volunteer work, active in homeschool groups and co-op, and the kids’ sports schedules need a calendar of their own. Yes, it exhausts me just to type it all. But we do it together. For us, homeschooling is not *school at home*, but rather participating in the world as we learn all about it – and using every experience in life as a teaching opportunity. And doing all of it together. As a family.
There are so many reasons why we choose to homeschool, and honestly, the list has grown over the years. We are very relaxed and eclectic, but organized. I am in favor of following my children’s interests, but having order all the while. When we first began homeschooling, I was a typical *newbie*. We had the desk. We had the chalkboard. We thought we were so ready. It did not take long for us to realize that was not what He had *planned* for us. We quickly learned the importance of relaxing. We learned the importance of taking advantage of every teachable moment with our children. God ever-so-gently showed us that time on the floor playing trains, making messes in the kitchen or running outside gettin’ dirty were a lot more important than what *check-marks* were made on the to-do list that day. The changes in our home were not made over night, but as we changed our goals and priorities, the entire attitude of our home changed. I will forever need gentle reminders of this from time to time, as I will always be a work-in-progress.
I am a sweet tea drinkin, obsessed picture-takin, Arkansas native, and Florida transplant. I despise being cold. I believe in the power of prayer. I don’t wear shoes if I don’t have to. And people say I have an accent.
As homeschooling is one of my biggest passions, I feel very blessed and am looking forward to this new Adventure in my life with The Post.
