Get Your Vote On!

The polls are up and ready!

Please remember these things:

  • Read the terms and conditions before you vote.
  • Votes are based on IP and cookies.
  • Do not send in duplicate votes from a cell phone in different hot spots.
  • You may only vote ONCE per category per person in your home.
  • No more than 5 votes per network/IP
  • You don’t have to vote on everything at once. You can vote for one category and come back later for the rest.
  • If you click on the DOT, it will vote. If you click on the BLOG NAME, you can go to the site.
  • Email us at Hsbawards @ Gmail . com (remove extra spaces) if you have any questions or problems!
  • Spread the word!
  • Please use our graphics for your pages if you were nominated and link them to THIS post! See below for the nominee graphic.

With the number of categories and nominees involved, there is a definite possibility of human error in the creation of the polls. Please let us know if any of the links don’t work, etc. so that we can take care of it as quickly as possible.

Regarding multiple votes from the same household:

The rules state: “You may only vote ONCE per category per person in your home & No more than 5 votes per network/IP.” Although this is what’s allowed, it may or may not work for you. Here are some observations based on personal experience and feedback from others:

  • To vote more than once, use another computer in your home; once you have voted in a particular category, you will most likely see only the results and not the option to vote again while using the same computer.
  • The ability to vote more than once from the same IP address appears to be greatly influenced by your computer and network.
  • When I voted on my desktop computer first, I was able to cast a second vote in the same category from my laptop (wireless connection to the same modem). When I voted first from my laptop, I was not able to vote in that category from my desktop.

In simple English, not all networks are the same. Computers can be tricky. If you can’t vote more than one time at home and you have two people who want to vote, may I suggest going to the library for your second vote? Please be honest, though.

Emailing us if you can’t vote more than once is not going to help, because we cannot make your computer allow it. Just relax, have fun, and enjoy the awards.

Voting ends at midnight on November 21.

Additional info based upon some of your emailed questions (this section updated as the awards progress)…

Question:
What is the youngest age for a teen blogger?

Answer:
12 (and winners must provide written consent by their parents to accept prizes) For more information, see our Legal Page and our Awards Update Page.

Question:
Are people able to win in more than one category?

Answer:
No.
If someone wins more than one category, we go in and see how many votes they got in each category and they get to keep the category where their votes were the highest. The runner up takes the other category. We do this so that we can make sure that prizes go to as many bloggers as possible.

Question:
Why is my blog or the blog I nominated not showing up on the voting lists?

Answer:
Your blog either did not qualify based upon the amount of nominations you got, the amount of people nominating, or your content might not have met rule requirements/was not matched up properly with the category you were nominated in. In a perfect world, we’d like to say that there weren’t any mistakes in our blog-checking/spreadsheet scouring, but it is also possible that we missed a couple of blogs that SHOULD be on the polls. Send us an email and we’ll look in to your particular case if you desire.

Please make sure that these requirements are met first:
1. Your blog is family friendly (check our Legal Page for a full-fledged definition of what we mean by that)
2. Your blog is current (if you haven’t posted in 2 months, chances are, we didn’t include you)
3. Your blog fits the category it was nominated in (if you are a DAD, you probably aren’t listed in ‘Teen Girl’)
4. Your blog got at least 3 nominations by 3 different people in ONE category

Question:
What if my url or blog name is wrong/misspelled?

Answer:
Shoot us an email. That’s an easy fix!

  2. Just wanted to say thank you for all of your hard work and the many hours you put into this. I will never forget being nominated for the first time last year-I was so shocked and surprised. Then to wake up this morning and see myself nominated again this year-what an honor!!

Thank you so much for putting this whole things together!

    :) Carisa

  3. Good gracious! So hard to choose!

  4. Wow! What great nominees! I’m finding some awesome reading material. But how to choose a favorite in each category?

  5. I love this time of year.

  6. I love this time of year, too! I always find wonderful new blogs to add to my reader. :o)

Thanks, ladies, for all your hard work!

  7. I have just cast my votes. I have been following several of the blogs that have been nominated and greatly appreciate all of the blog posts that these generous, creative and enthusaistic homeschooling mums put together.

Thank you for hosting this and bringing my attention to more inspirational blog sites. I can’t wait to see the results.

  8. WOW! How were nominees chosen? What an HONOR! *THANK YOU!* It was a pleasant surprise! (((((HUGS))))) sandi

  9. Thank you for the nomination! What a very fun SURPRISE! And it’s great to peek in on the other nominated blogs too.

  10. Wow! I found out this morning I was elected for Best Current Events, Opinions or Politics Blog…not sure if I should feel honored or not! LOL :P
Thanks for whoever nominated me, um unless you meant it as a cruel joke. :P

  11. Thank you all so much for your hard work in putting this together. It is always great to know that the time put into blogging is truly appreciated in this way. And, finding lots of other great blogs in the process.

btw, are others able to vote more than once in their house? I have had many people say they voted once and other members of their household were not able to vote then. I know they can go elsewhere to cast their votes, just wondered if we are all doing something wrong?

    Thanks!

  12. Thank you for all your hard work, could you please keep the list of nominees available , se we can check out their blogs at a later point, thanks,

  13. Just so you know, Nov 21st at midnight was 13 hours ago and voting seems to still be going on. I think you either meant Nov 22 at Midnight or Nov 21’st at 11:59 P.M. Better luck next year!

  14. I wanted to let you all know of a very sad and disappointing thing that happened during this vote: 100digits.com was hacked and virtually destroyed. They have been working for days trying to recover the very large quantity of information she has spend months collecting, sorting and posting for the use of our homeschool community. Her readers were thrilled to see her take the lead one day then grieved to see her be taken down the next. Please support her site as she tries to rebuild and get back on track. It is one of the few sites in this catagory that is completly dedicated to homeschooling topics.

  15. Also, regarding voting… Presumably you are either in another time zone than I am, or the voting ended in the wee hours of last night/ this morning. Perhaps next year the deadline could be something more definitive. For example, “11:59 pm PST on November 21st.”

  16. There are some really wonderful blogs on here. Thank you for the awards, what great fun.

It appears a blog has won two categories that isn’t about homeschooling at all. The only post of homeschool according to their categories is that they were nominated as a homeschool blog. I presume it is not an easy task to go through all the nominated blogs to verify their content.

  17. What about a category for education or social blogs that also support homeschooling? I blog my homeschooling, but I keep it private. I do keep other blogs, like the one above which is not only about homeschooling but has many articles about homeschooling on it. I bet a lot of other people do too, so the homeschooling as a main category may not fit them.

  18. Voting ends at midnight on November 21.
    What time zone?

That one is password protected. LOL. Trying to keep us out?
