National Blog Posting Month

by Tracy on November 7, 2009

bloggingNovember of last year I took this challenge, since November was the National Blog Posting Month. It was the first time since I began blogging, that I posted everyday. Before that day I posted about 3 times a week sometimes 4. It was so much fun, that I decided to try and continue it for a year. SO>>>>>

November 1st was my one year anniversary for posting everyday! I did it! I made it to my goal! YEAH!

It has been fun, but challenging at times! I have learned a lot and I thought I would share with you some of the things that I learned along the way.

I learned how to:

#1 PRE-Post. This was a BIG help. Most people think I sit here everyday at my computer and blog. But I don’t….although I am here a lot! :)

#2 make a Draft post to copy from on the weekly things I post, to save time. So, I just copy the HTML and paste it into the new post. {a template for things I posted every week}

#3 go find inspiration when I was dry!

#4 make my posts more interesting. Pictures, whether mine or stock images from G*ogle, {Mine are watermarked} and cartoons.

#5 give credit and link love to friends and other bloggers.

#6 increase traffic and get comments! Which always makes blogging more fun!

#7 use Permalinks, a Reader, Mcklinky, Twitter and some HTML among other things.

#8 create and use buttons.

#9 hopefully how to write better!

#10 and what a GREAT Outlet Blogging is!

So, this new “year” of posting I am going to make some changes.

I am for sure going to take Saturday off from Blogging {Day of Rest!} ….to Blog or not to blog, that is the question. I believe in Bloggling without Obligation! So, who knows there could be a post everyday or maybe not? hhhmmmm…..we will see!

Are you new to blogging? A veteran? Do you post everyday or sporadically? Have you learned anything in your blogging journey this past year?

Thanks for sharing, Tracy. Lots of good tips. It makes me smile to think that there is actually such a thing as a National Blog Posting Month!

When I began blogging, I did write every day. Over the past year, I decided to take Sunday as my day off which gives me a nice break. Sometimes I think it would be nice to take Saturday and Sunday off and use whatever computer time I do squeeze in on the weekends to visit more blogs since it’s hard to do during the week. There’s many exceptional bloggers out there!

Blessings,
Tammy ~@~

I’m coming up on the end of my first year ~ I average 7.5 posts a week, but will often post several reviews in one day for those on email sub. (they go out in one email). I have wondered about posting regularity, but more about posting length. I tend to be super focused on “themes” and try to lump information together into one cohesive post based on what we are studying. I am wondering what a good length for a post is.

I think what I have learned the most about is me! {I did not want to blog when I started because I found little worth in myself. I also fear rejection so “putting myself out there” has been a challenge} The Father has used my blog to grow me in this area and to find my ultimate worth and acceptance in Him alone.

Besides that, I have learned a lot of technical stuff (html esp.) that I had never heard of before!

We rest on Saturday too!

Congratulations on doing a full year of blogging every day! I started posting 6 days a week at the beginning of last summer. I’ve mostly kept that up, but some weeks it’s hard. Scheduled posting helps a lot!

Wow, good job on accomplishing your goal, and thanks for sharing some great tips Tracy, some of which I need to take to heart and try out myself… see if I can both save time AND post more often! :-)

I’m not sure I’d say I’m a veteran blogger, but not a newbie anymore either. It’s been a few years I think. I enjoy it a lot. It’s my space and time to be me.
