It’s time, folks! Midnight (give or take a few disheveled minutes) begins our 2009 Nominations. Are you ready?
Here are a few brief notes to keep you in the know:
Prize pages are up!!!
Here they are:
Prize Page 1
Prize Page 2
We are adding prizes all the time, so be sure to check out our prize pages regularly. We have already spilled over on to page 2 because it would take too long to load if we added too many prize pictures on one page. If you know of someone wanting to share a prize, please let us know or have them submit an email on our contact form! We even have a few home-made items being submitted as prizes and an Amazon gift certificate. Anything that would bless another homeschool bloggin’ mom, dad or teen goes!
The nominations form this year is SA-WEET! Not only is it snazzy and professional looking for you, it’s going to save our eyes, backs, and arms a LOT of manual work. For the past four years, we’ve hand pecked the entries in to Excel. This year your entries are coming across JUST HOW YOU ENTER THEM – no room for typos! That is, unless YOU make the typo. So pay extra attention to the spelling and URLs of your favorite blogs so they are legible. Your entries go straight in to our massive nomination spreadsheet! Presto, Whamo! Just like that!
It’s like magic. Only it’s Google, instead.
Keep checking back here for updates and just click the awards updates button at the top of our main-post column. It will take you to our Awards page where all the updates are listed neatly in our “Updates” section by date.
RULES:
1. Be sure to check our TERMS AND CONDITIONS page – by nominating a blog or voting you are agreeing to them!
2. Nominate only one blog per category – once. That means once you have logged in and nominated, you can’t come back and do it again… unless you didn’t nominate all 25 categories. Once you have all 25 nominated, you are finished.
3. Do not nominate one blog for MORE than one category. Sorry, but no more nominating your mom’s blog for all 25 categories.
4. If a blog does not get nominated in the same category at least three times, it will not be in the final voting stage for that category. You will find out who made the finals in November.
5. Remember that we are G rated here at the Homeschool Blog Awards and family friendly – nominated blogs should be appropriate for all viewing audiences. For more on detailed rules, see our Terms and Conditions.
6. If you need to refer back to the categories, go to the Awards Update page and re-read them there… (see #7…)
7. Voting won’t be until November, but keep checking back here for updates and be sure to spread the word so we can get to know a lot of great new blogs this year!
Remember not to waste vote on authors—we love you, too, but we can’t win. If you tweet about the awards, use hashtag #HSBA.
Ready, set, NOMINATE!

I just went to the nomination form and one category is missing: Best Family or Group Blog. I checked and double checked the form, then counted….there are 25 categories listed on your category page, but only 24 listed on the form. Thought you’d want to know!
I started nominating, but it looks like #6 Best Family or Group Blog isn’t on the form. Am I just missing it?
Molly and Jenny, thanks for the heads-up! Checking it now…
Don’t want to get into trouble for nomintating the same blog twice, but I did it wrong the first time. Didn’t realize there were two fields. Silly Me. Can you fix it?
If you accidentally vote in the same category twice, will it catch that? I submitted *some* the other day – ran out of time and figured I’d do the rest later..but coming back now, I’m not sure on a few of the categories – if I did them or not!
Last year you had a list of what qualifies a blog for each category…didnt you? Will that be up?
I Nominate Goosehill Farm for best new blog
http://goosehillfarm.blogspot.com/
I would like to Nominate http://www.savingdollarsandsense.com/ for
Best Thrifty Homeschooler
Thanks!

not a criticism, just a suggestion…I get the whole, “don’t nominate your mom’s blog for all 25 categories” thought, and yet…it would be nice if you could nominate a blog for two categories at most, for instance, I read a lovely blog from a mom in South Africa, she *could* fit “best geographic blog”, yet I read her for her crafts and activities…it was hard to pigeon hole many blogs and I wonder if they will not make the nomination cut if they were nominated for a wide range of categories. Just a thought for next time, maybe?
I’m looking forward to the voting and getting to read many new to me blogs!
I love finding new blogs to read! I posted about this on my blog at http://embracingdestiny.blogspot.com.
I also agree with Jenny in CA above. There are some blogs that fit into more than one category, although I understand not wanting people to take advantage of “stuffing the ballot boxes.” Wish I had a solution that would work for you!
Just a reminder, friends – please don’t leave the nominations here in the comments. Please use the nomination form for your nominations to count.
Thank you!
