I still consider myself somewhat of a newbie to the blogging community. I made my way into the blogosphere about a year and a half ago and fell in love. Blogging is like the chocolate for my peanut butter, the Grande to my Caramel Macchiato ~ it just fits and feels right.

My initial purpose for blogging was . . . . okay. I didn’t really have a purpose other than just having fun. But, as the days turned into weeks and those weeks turned into months, I began to meet people. Lovely people. People that were entertaining, some who were facing the toughest battles of their lives, others who had practical tips or money saving ideas, and lots and lots of homeschoolers. From these people, I learned I can have a greater purpose in blogging. I was inspired to share my own homeschooling adventures and experiences, ideas and suggestions, mistakes and lessons learned. Just as the blogs I had read touched me, maybe my blog could touch someone else.

The blogosphere now feels like home. These people I’ve met feel like neighbors and the things I’ve learned from them I’ll never forget. When I say it is an honor to join The Post and write alongside these beautiful women, I truly mean it.

My family is a modern day Brady Bunch. When hubby and I met, I was a single mother of one and he was a single father of three.

Now, after twelve years of marriage, we’ve added four more children to our number, started on this journey called homeschooling and become convinced of the necessity of caffeine! We began our homeschool adventure in the fall of 1999. I thought I had it all figured out.  I had the plan, the resources and I was going to conquer.

It took me until maybe lunchtime on that first day of homeschooling before I fell flat on my face and asked myself, “What have I gotten myself into?”

Not much has changed since then, except I’ve ruled out 101 ways you should not homeschool (which really is progress if you think about it) and that I need more than one pair of pajamas. I still plan on conquering!

Besides homeschooling, what would describe me?

I am passionate about my God, my husband and my children.

I love the arts, good literature, baking, savoring a Caramel Macchiato from Starbucks (Grande, please), hiding behind my Nikon and having a good laugh!

You can find me at my blog, Eclectic Whatnot.
