It’s my turn and I am excited to be joining this group of ladies writing for The Post! Blogging has only become a part of my life in the last year and when I came across HSBA through Tracy I enjoyed reading it. Such a great place for homeschoolers to come and get encouraged, new ideas, and some laughs. Sometimes even a reality check that we are not the ONLY ones in our boat. Isn’t it nice to know we are not alone?
As for myself, I am a follower of Christ and daily strive to be closer to Him. I am a wife to a wonderful, hard working, man named Rich… boy do I love him. I have a 20 year old step son who lives far away from us, but the distance has made us grow closer in the last few years. God also blessed us with four more children – two boys (11 and 9) and two girls (6 and 3). They are the joy of my life (at least most days!).
A little about my children. My step son is a college sophomore who hopes to transfer to a four year college next year and continue playing football (he was an all star kicker in high school). My oldest, Mr. J, is a mini me. He has my humor and my creativity. He is also an awesome guitarist, if I say so myself! Next is Mr. C. This boy is an animal lover, future zookeeper, and has a compassionate heart. When he gives himself to something, it is all of him. Then the daughters – Ms. A is always doing something crafty or bugging her brothers. She loves to do school and she brings new challenges to my life, but not like my youngest – Ms. S. Her passions are dress up and candy. But she doesn’t view herself as 3 – she is older like everyone else!

I was born and raised in the heartland and, amazingly, have never lived in another state! Now, I’ve moved MANY times in my married life, but the heartland is where we stay. My husband has high hopes of living in a state that has more snow than us, and we also hope to bike across America someday (bicycles, that is). He and I met on a 400 mile 7 day bike tour, so it’s what we do.
I blog over at knit1kids4 and have really loved it. It allows me to have a creative outlet for writing and also other things – like recipes, pictures, and my various knitting projects. Two of my favorite posts are the one about the “circus” and my thoughts on an Oprah Show (Part I and Part II). When I’m not blogging, being a mom, or a housewife, you can find me knitting, taking pictures, or reading.
Thanks for visiting us today and don’t forget to nominate your favorite blogs for the Homeschool Blog awards! I look forward to writing here and getting to know – so be sure to comment!
