When I began blogging in 2007, I had no idea what it would blossom into. Blogging became a household word around here and soon, my teen and pre-teen daughters were all in! At first it was a way to journal homeschool activities, share photos, but it soon became much more. It became a way to journal their faith walk as well.
Recently, I had an opportunity to review a brand new e-book by Lisa Bertolini, who some of you may know from Growing in Grace Ministires.
Lisa Bertolini, also known as Sisterlisa, is a ministry wife and homeschool mom to four children. Lisa and her husband are directors of a recovery ministry in Northern California for men and women. Lisa teaches the women boundaries for life with Biblical principles and admonishes the women to fall in love with Jesus Christ. She speaks at public events for other women who have a desire to reach out to their communities and fulfill the Proverbs 31 and Titus 2 role God has given to women.
GrowingInGraceOnline.com is an online publication for homeschool girls to write together as a team as part of their homeschool assignments.
In her new e-book, Lisa offers practical guidelines for encouraging your child to set up and begin a blog.

Her e-book is straight forward and tackles all of those questions “mom” has about blogging. Chapters include:
Laying Your Foundation: The beginnings of her online journey
Maintaining Authority: Your child’s online editor
Expressing Faith: Using discernment when sharing her faith online
Safety in the Blogosphere: Conflicts and resolution
Essentials of Blogging: Basics in composition, editing, and publishing
Refined Blogging: More blogging details
Dress it up: Your blog design
Networking: Online fellowship, followship, and leadership
Social Network Etiquette: Online manners
Looking Forward in the Blogosphere: Their future online.
Each chapter is thoughtful and insightful. In our home, allowing my girls to have blogs was a leap of faith. I knew that it was going to require my involvement, and it does. I help them maintain their sites and monitor content and comments, while they improve their writing and computer skills and share their faith experiences with others that they may otherwise never meet. Lisa addresses many of the “online” concerns that we all SHOULD have in a helpful and realistic manner. Blogging has become a wonderful way to incorporate many extensions into our learning day.
Lisa sums it up eloquently;
While this e-book is simply meant to give you the basics of getting them started, there is so much more to learn. I pray this information will give you a stable foundation to lay down before you allow your children to venture out into the world wide web.
2 Peter 3:18, “But grow in grace, and in the
knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.”
As an added bonus today, Lisa is going to be giving away a copy of “Prelude to a Blog.” Simply by leaving a comment, you’ll be entered in the giveaway! Comment up!

With my girls growing up suddenly, I’ve been toying with the idea of allowing them to blog as it would help develop their writing skills. Sounds like Lisa has an excellent tool in her ebook to use as a resource!

“Today I am posting edition # 6 of blog’s “Theme Days” / “meme’s” / “carnivals”. Yes, list # 6. {And your’s was included :-} Just letting you know.) ”
The above paragraph is the first paragraph in an email I sent out today, to all of the owners of blogs whom host “theme days”, that I could find email addresses for. But I could not find an email address on your blog.
The rest of the email is what I posted today on our blog. Go to: http://www.xanga.com/thehousethatlovebuilt to read it for yourself.
Hopefully, it will then clarify of all of this for you ;-}

This sounds like a wonderful e-book! I’m sure it would be a great resource in the article series about blogging that I have been working on.
