by Sprittibee on September 12, 2009

HSBA Post Swap

Lookie at my new earings! Did you gals enjoy the last swap? I sure did. Swaps are an every-other month highlight. I enjoy looking for awesome little gifts even when I don’t have my next swap sister’s name yet! In fact, I saw a few sweet swap gifts tonight at a Christian book store near me for only $3.99!

You saw what I got (Thanks, Tracy!)… but what did everyone else get???

JULY & AUGUST SWAP HIGHLIGHTS:

Heather’s swap gift.

Tracy’s swap gift.

Amanda’s swap gift.

Alicia’s swap gift.

Kris’ swap gift.

Anita’s swap gift.

Jennifer’s swap gift.

Lynn’s swap gift.

Susan’s swap gift.

Yours not listed here? Email or comment with a link and we’ll add it!

Are YOU interested in getting a groovy care-package in the mail (instead of bills) that looks sorta like the one above? Please join up! It’s ever so easy. You just comment that you want to join (leaving a valid email address), return your emailed questionnaire form, mail your gift by the date below, take a photo of the present you get, blog about it, thank your swap partner, and enjoy your goodies! “Elementary, my dear Watson!”

Important: Stumble and tweet this post (our twitter account is @hsbapost) to help gather up all the swap-loving homeschoolers you know. Be sure to put the dates below on your calendar and make sure you don’t forget them!

Here’s the schedule:

PAIRED UP: By September 26th (Saturday)

I know you already know what a SWAP is… but in case you need a refresher…

Check out our past SWAP Posts here at HSBA. Chances are they will answer all of your questions and more. Oh, and if you swapped in the past and forgot to send in your link, it isn’t too late! We would love to add your post showcasing your swap gift to our past posts. People still like to click back and see all the gifts, so by all means – share!

Next up… September – October 2009!

We hope you’ll join in the fun! Spread the news and ask your homeschool friends to join. You have until Saturday the 19th to leave a comment here with your email. I’ll contact you and send you a questionnaire!

Here are some basic rules for every swap:

1. Don’t offer to participate and sign up if you can’t get the gift in the mail on time. Now that we are giving you 2 months, this shouldn’t be too hard!
2. Don’t spend more than 5-15$ on your swap gift (not including postage). You will end up making your buddy feel like they didn’t give enough to you.
3. Get to know your swap buddy. Pray for them! Send them a Bible verse! Email them! Etc.!
4. Do NOT share your swap buddies’ personal information (last names or addresses) with anyone else.
5. Make sure you post a photo and ‘Thank You’ for your swap sister – thanking her and linking to her blog.
6. Email me a copy of your swap post link so I can showcase it for the following month!

Suggestion: Please make sure you take extra care when packaging your gifts if they are breakable or fragile. Two or three times now we have had swap gifts damaged by UPS and the Postal Service!

Who’s in???

Please count me in if I’m permitted to participate. I’m not a homeschool mom though :( I am, however, keeping my 3year old son out of preschool & my friends find that simply shocking! I love this site and all it offers. Very inspiring.

I just read the swap share you moms do and it filled me with tears. It is warming to my soul to see that you have a support system out there especially to pray for one another. I’m unsure if I would fit it and I think it is closed… I am a homeschool mom, but not like you all. I homeschool my son who is 15 and has profound mental retardation and autism. I also have cancer. I have 2 other same age boys who go to school (one also has autism but not mental retardation) and the 3rd also has special needs. I don’t use the autism or cancer support system b/c they only speak to one subject. My son who I homeschool is what I focus 24/7 on… trying to teach him things and be creative enough to hold his attention. He learns using pictures so all of his communication and directions are given to him in pictures…. I think I answered my own question – not a fit… and to top it off the real kicker, I don’t have a blog… don’t know how to do a blog but I am wickedly talented at all the special needs software! It is my hope that someday be a fit here – but for now, I’ll enjoy your posts and pray for you all!!!! All my love, Sue
