Your Team

The sports season is about to change again and you may wonder if your team is EVER going to back a comeback! Shall I find another team or quit watching sports altogether? They had some really good years, but not lately! Are you embarrassed to say you’re their fan? Have you burned all your sports memorabilia yet? Hearing criticism from your friends? Were you a committed fan or a secret fan? Are you proud of your team or embarrassed to say what side you’re on?

One thing about a parent is that we love our team. Our family and our homeschool is our team. We love one another no matter how many times we fail. We know they’re not perfect and we forgive each another. My children make mistakes, but I truly love them. I have had my children disappoint me, even in public, but I’m still their mom. I’m committed and no matter what happens everyone knows I’m their mother. Do you cheer on your team? Are you 100% committed? Does everyone know who your team is? Do you have team pictures? How do people know you’re their number one fan?

Our family is who we have. When everyone else around us fails us, we still have our team. No matter what the team does together we need to support one another in all we do. Here are some ways you can be your team’s number one fan, whether you are the parent or the child.

1. Speak kindly to your team members. Proverbs 31:26, “She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.”

2. Show your support by offering a helping hand. Proverbs 31:20b, “she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.”

3. Stay close to the team, be committed. 1 Samuel 18:3, “Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.”

4. Pray for the team. Ephesians 6:18, “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”

5. Defend the team. Psalm 59:1, “Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.”

6. Be their biggest fan! Judges 20:22a, “And the people the men of Israel encouraged themselves.”

No matter how many times we fail, we are still a team no matter what.

Proverbs 24:16, “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again:”

I love the scriptures! Our family is close, too, and we have a lot of love for each other!
