* A B See Photo Meme *

by Sprittibee on January 3, 2009

S is for SAND.

Hard to believe those dirty fingers on the top left played in a piano recital before that picture was taken. They belong to my son. The others belong to his cousins. I have always called my son “dirt boy” because he just can’t help but play in it – or kick it – wherever we are. It is neat to get close up shots of the things you love. Little hands, little smiles, little eyes sparkling in the sunlight…

Because I love taking photos so much, I decided to give myself a photo assignment for 2009… one that will gain me some much needed break time from long-drawn-out blog posts. Getting my January List done will be super easy with a little more photo-blogging. How about you? Do you need a little break from your stress over writer’s block to tackle your new year’s resolutions? Lets spend more time enjoying life, getting things done, and less time fretting over the blog this month. Get out there and have some fun, tackle your projects that have been piling up all school year, make some memories with your kids before they are grown (and photograph it)!

- – - – -

Join the Homeschool Post ‘A B See Photo Meme’. Take some time to get to know your camera better (who knows, maybe that is one of your resolutions anyway?!). This meme will be another way to inspire you to get out there and take some great shots of everyday things that you love. It seems that the details in life that you see every day have so much potential if you just look at them through the eyes of a macro lens! It will give your year a whole new perspective. Maybe even help you get rid of some clutter.

Include your kids in the fun. Teach them a little about how the camera works and what to look for in taking pictures as you go. You could even make a little photo book out of the final results for them as a treasured keepsake for years to come. This project is a scrapbook lover’s dream. Maybe a future birthday, Mother’s Day or Christmas present for grandma? If your kids blog, it would give them some fun content – just be sure to OK the photos so that street names, house numbers, or other personal info doesn’t get shared inadvertently. Kids are welcome to join in on this one. And if you are really crafty, you don’t have to do it in digital or film – you can even do it on paper and make it an art project instead – just scan your results and post them as photos on your blog! Flickr has some excellent ideas of you choose to go that route. Be prepared to be inspired!

Sign the linky if you plan to participate… and pass the word on!

Here are the rules… be sure to post them when you join!

1. Post a photo for each letter of the alphabet of anything that starts with that letter.

2. Write a few short explanatory, quirky, or witty sentences about each photo you post.

3. Only post one photo at a time (the meme can take as long as you want – a month, three months, whatever… you aren’t being graded). You can link them later in a blog post so they are listed in order if you are the list-making type.

4. If you want to join the meme, sign the Mr. Linky and use the “A B See Photo-Meme” graphic in your sidebar. Link your graphic to this post and announce that you will be joining us.

5. When you post a photo, come by and add it to the weekly A B See linky that we’ll be posting on Foto Fridays for those who have some alphabetical photo to share. You can sign it each week as many times as you have posted photos – one time for each photo linked post. Make sure you link back to the HSBA on your posts, too – so others can come and join the linky.

Love in Him,

Sprittibee

I’m new to this and want to participate but I can’t seem to find the graphic code for the ABSee meme to put in my sidebar.

I love that you don’t have a time frame for this, so there is no pressure! Great idea :)

One of my new years to-dos was to tackle a photography project — this one will be a perfect starting off point!

I am excited about doing this! My daughter is going to join in on the fun, too. She just got her first digital camera for Christmas, so this will be a great opportunity for her to learn how to use it better. Thanks for the great idea!

What a fun idea – this will hopefully force me to finally read my camera manual!

I’m trying to link your graphic in the sidebar of my HSB Blog but I’m not sure what to do. Can you help?

Thanks. I’m looking forward to doing this.

I thought I’d only do A for today… But, I keep getting ideas! I’m just going about my day as usual, cleaning, making lunch, doing lessons, but this “project” is making it all a lot more interesting.

Hi Heather,

This sounds like fun! I found you through Karen (Homespun Simplicity). I would love to participate. Do I post on a particular day of the week and come back and add my name to the linky each time I post, or just add my name to the linky one time and then post whenever I have a new one?

Thanks!
Tammy

I just went back and reread the rules. From my understanding, I link back each time I make a post, but do you only post a picture on Fridays?

Thanks a bunch!

Whew – FINALLY made it. Of course, random woman that I am means that these won’t be showing up regularly on Fridays. More like whenever. Enjoy! :D

What a great idea! I can’t wait to start.

Now, if I can figure out how to put the graphic in the sidebar — or anywhere, for that matter — that will be a minor miracle.
