I was excited to find how many homeschoolers, this past week, were motivated to get their schedules in order and had fun doing it. Last week’s theme blessed me in two definite ways… I got to see how others plan out their days and was able to help others in their planning. I hope you were also blessed in these ways and more!
THEME
Planning your homeschool is a lot of fun, especially if you’re going to be trying something new. Just like finding a shiny new penny you’re excited to use it. Mother Dear has been planning some new curriculum for us, and I am plenty excited to get started on it. This week I hope you’ll share something new you’re using, why you’ve decided to use it, and if you have used it how you like it. Make sure to include the publishing information and where you got it from so others can look into if they like.
Make sure you enter in your DIRECT link to your HM post and not just your blog link. When others go back to look over the themes they will be able to go directly to your post rather than just your front page.
MY THEME
I’ve mentioned previously one thing I am looking forward to that is new this year is lapbooking… inexpensive scrapbooking with learning. I enjoy scrapbooking quite a bit and I am very artsy so I think I will enjoy it. However, the “something new” I’m doing this year is “Unlocking The Mysteries Of Creation” by Dennis R. Petersen. A few weeks ago Mother Dear found a video, online, about creationism by Dr. Kent Hovind. You can watch the entire 15hour seminar online, and so I have watched 5 out of 7 videos over the past few weeks and learned so much history, science, the opposing beliefs – Evolution & Creationism – and Bible study. It’s really been educational.
Mother Dear decided that I should look over the Mysteries of Creation book and put together a “class” to do for everyone else this year. I’m not sure I will be a very good teacher, but I’m going to be looking through it and see what I can come up with. I know it will prove to be very beneficial.

Something new for us is quality art supplies. The kids are loving these new “school supplies” and we’re all loving the beautiful artworks they are creating. Check link at #70, yikes that list grows fast.
Hi Jocelyn
What a great idea for this week! I hope that you will let us know how your teaching experience goes. Blessings! Q
Great idea to share our new curriculum! Thanks for hosting this meme.
~Susan
I am looking forward to gleaning some new curriculum ideas!
Jocelyn, where can you watch the creation seminar online? Is it free or paid? Thanks.
Hi!! I just found Homeschool Memoir and am jumping in. Looks like tons of fun.
So glad you’ve all joined us again this week!
As to answer Mrs. Michelle’s question… The creation seminar by Dr. Hovind is free. I searched it online to find the videos, but they are listed here in order: http://freehovind.com/watch. Very interesting and educational. Dr. hovind doesn’t only show you the creationist-side. He also includes the evolution-side and compares the two. This were so interesting – with facts, history, and Bible – that many of the Littles huddled around when it was playing.
I LOVE checking out what others are using for their curriculum. Im new to all of this-so I can use all the help I can manage to find from you all
I’m still trying to figure this all out. Can someone email me and let me know how these linky things work?
So I guess this sends people over to my blog to see waht I’m writing about. I feel so left out, not knowing how all this works. Thanks for your patience!
I actually have that book and it is TOP NOTCH. ;0) I won it in an essay contest way back when it first came out! LOL
Hmmm….did you have this book up last wednesday or did you add something new to the something new meme since then? I was just checking in to see if I could maybe get a “hint” of this week’s meme and saw that book. I LOVE that book! I have that book! I had the “old” version, and the new edition is so much better all the way around!
OK, I’m leaving now….
Its really great to find out about other families and their homeschooling methods!
I really enjoyed this weeks’ Homeschool Memoirs. I linked myself on the linky if you want to check out my post -
