Tuesday Tour

by Sheri on October 2, 2007

Whew! The pressure!

As this is my first post on the Tuesday Tour and as this is THE First post on the Tuesday Tour I am finding it a little difficult to know exactly what to do without a formula to follow (I know, something SAPPED my creativity).

So first things first:

What is Tuesday Tour? The idea behind the Tuesday tour is that we will help YOU take a tour around the Blogosphere. We will share interesting links with you. We will show you neat places we have found and point out curriculum along the way. Over time I am sure this will morph and we’ll I will have a little more clarity of what’s going on.

But just to get going I will share some of my favorite haunts around the world wide web.

Homeschoolestore is a great place for those of us who prefer Unit Studies and lapbooks. But even better than that, every Monday they offer a different “freebie”. Sometimes the free items are lapbooks, sometimes they are audio files and sometimes they are Unit Studies. Certainly check them out and see what they are offering up this week. While you are there browse around, you’ll probably find something you’ve been looking for.

Homeschool Share is another great site for those lapbookers and notebookers. As a Rower (We use Five in a Row) we find this site very helpful in planning studies. It also contains many other book studies.

For the Older Crowd I highly suggest Study Stack, SS is an interactive “flashcard” website. My oldest child uses it daily to help him with his Apologia Science. Simply open the main page, type what you are looking for in the search and Voila! You will have several “study stacks” pop up for your learning pleasure!

Most people already know about Donna Young and her fabulous array of printables, but what you may not know is that she has pages set up to go with Apologia General Science and a schedule for the curricula. The link takes you directly to the Apologia Pages.

If you are tired and need some time to refresh you might try your hand at drawing with Imitate the Masters.

Finally, because I can’t let this one go past without mentioning it is the Paragraph a Week Progam. This is a great free writing program. It has topics and an evaluation form. Intended for 5th to 6th grade students we have found it adapts easily into the homeschool environment and for multiple grades.

So, “Finally” in the above paragraph wasn’t quite right. I wanted to quickly mention some contests I have come across before I handed over the reigns reins keyboard to tomorrows blogger.

I have a link to that goes perfectly with your Imitate the Masters. It is crayonbynumber.com and has easy and hard pieces from the Louvre that you can do with crayons. I printed an easy set off for my children to try earlier this week! Ya know, I think I may have even seen it at SoCalVal’s site and that’s probably where I got it.

God bless,
Sallie
